Ken’s Anglers offers fly fishing expeditions to Argentina

It’s been said that time spent with a fly rod in your hands adds “extra time” to your life. At Ken’s Anglers, they’re just as enthusiastic as you are about angling and provide some of the best fly fishing opportunities in the world.

Located in Littleton, CO, Ken’s Anglers Fly Fishing is comprised of an experienced team of veteran Colorado River guides who will guide you for half- or full-day fly fishing expeditions. Visitors have the option of fly fishing on still or moving water in public or private locations. Owner Ken Robak has been fly fishing and guiding anglers in the art for the past 20 years and he’s an expert in the field. Never one to sit on his laurels, Robak began looking for a new challenge and finally found it. He now offers unique fly fishing destination trips with Ken’s Anglers to Patagonia in Argentina.

“The area offers the best fly fishing in Argentina,” said Robak. “You’ll stay at the Rio Manso Lodge and fish in a variety of waters, from small spring creeks to large lakes with browns, rainbows and brook trout.”

Rio Manso Lodge is located in Nahuel Huapi, one of Argentina’s oldest national parks. The area offers miles of crystal clear water in which to fish, all within a 25-minute drive of the lodge. You can enjoy a variety of fly fishing experiences in still or moving water, with a wide variety of bait and artificial techniques. The channels of Lago Hess offer a challenge to even experienced anglers, while Lago Fonck provides some of the largest fish to be found anywhere. The fly fishing season runs from the beginning of November to the end of April, which is the exact opposite of North American fly fishing. Argentina offers the perfect solution for anglers who don’t want to hang up their rods at the end of the season in the U.S.

Fly fishing is a flexible excursion at Rio Manso, and days are arranged to fit your desire. Days usually begin with breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by a morning of guided fly fishing. Lunch features a variety of excellent cuisine choices. When the fly fishing ends in the evening, you can relax in the sauna or indulge in a massage upon request. Rooms are richly appointed for your comfort. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres are served before dinner in front of the fireplace. Meals are prepared by the establishment’s own chef.

Even if you’re not an angler, the expedition offers a variety of diversions. Some choose to hike the trails of unspoiled forest to experience the Cascada Los Alerces waterfall. Others opt to visit Mont Tronador and experience the famous Black Glacier. The site is also home to the Devil’s Throat waterfall. You can even get in a round of golf at the Arelauquen Golf & Country Club. The club offers an 18-hole course with the snow-capped Andes in the distance.

Horseback riding offers access to locations few people ever see, including waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife. Trained guides accompany you every step of the way. The area offers bird watching opportunities not found elsewhere, with Andean condor expert Lorenzo Sympson. Dozens of species inhabit the countryside, from the tiniest hummingbird to the Andean Condor, one of the largest birds on earth.

The visit to the nearby resort town of Bariloche is a must for shoppers and chocoholics. Early Swiss settlers brought the art of chocolate making to the town and the Mamuschka shop is famous for its creations. Bariloche has something for everyone, from leather goods to souvenirs.

Ken’s Anglers provides a destination fly fishing experience to Argentina that offers untold adventure. The fly fishing is exceptional and the scenery is breathtaking. Be sure to bring your camera to record that monster trout or a sighting of the majestic condor – you’ll be making memories to last a lifetime.
